Chinchón: anisette, garlic…

Chinchón was a rightly  chosen Site for a day away from Madrid. This Village is South the Tajo-Jarama River Valley. The Main Church   “Ntra., Sra., de la Asunción”, XV-XVI Century, contains a Fine early Work by Goya, depicting “The Assumption of the Virgin.” Not far away stands the remains of a medieval castle. However, the village is better known for chinchonPomFelix.chinchonipiccy2.the roughly circular Central Main Square surrounded by 15-17th Century galleried houses. Many of them converted into High Standard restaurants and coffee shops. This square has been the plato of many well known films such as ” Round the world travel in 80 days” as well as regular bullfighting taking place here althroughout the Centuries. Another important building is the “Parador-hotel” well known and much visited where my Guests and I had a peaceful and wonderful lunch.
Not to forget “Torre del Reloj” part of an old  church tower standing alone now. That is where comes the following village Saying: ” Chinchón has a church without a tower and a tower without a church”
Typical products from this quiet small Village are Garlic and white liquor “Anisette”
Come and see for yourself it is so nearby Madrid!!!
