Karlsruhe is the second largest city in the State of Baden-Württenberg.It is in the south of Germany near the French German border. Its population is around 310.000 inhabitants. The City is the Seat of the Two Highest Courts in Germany: The Federal Constitutional Court and the Federal Court of Justice.
History: its name “Karlsruhe” or Charles repose. Such name is given after a hunting trip by Margrave Charles III William of Baden-Durlach. He woke up from a dream in which he was founding his New City. Others say he built the new Palace in Karlsruhe to find peace away from his wife.The “Ständenhaus” was built in 1822, being the first Parliament building in a German State.
